In the first quarter of 2021, NFT sales topped $2 billion amid a spike in interest.

Some of Sorare's cards are likewise billed as these one-of-a-kind digital collectibles. An investment by SoftBank would mark ongoing investor interest in NFT marketplaces. アクセルマーク、米・医療機器会社Ascella Biosystemsと提携
〜同社への出資ならびに独自の分子診断システムの日本における事業化権を取得〜

　アクセルマーク株式会社（本社：東京都 中野区 代表者：松川　裕史 証券コード：3624　以下、アクセルマーク）は医療機器スタートアップのAscella Biosystems, Inc. (本社：米国 カリフォルニア州 CEO：Deepak Boggavarapu 以下、アセラ)に資本参画および業務提携することを発表いたします。アクセルマークでは2021年3月26日にヘ○スケア領域への参入発表に続き、同年4月19日にはアクセリード株式会社(以下、アクセリード)との提携も発表しており、本リリースはその提携に基づく案件となります。

　アセラは2020年創業の米国カリフォルニア州に本社を置く医療機器スタートアップであり、スタンフォード大学教授のEric T. KOOL博士の研究に基づくRAIL System※と言われる分子診断技術を用いた新型コロナウイルス（以下、COVID-19）迅速診断法の早期実用化を目指しています。

　KOOL博士は本分野で世界的に認められた専門家であり、30年以上にわたって核酸の検出と分析において独創的な研究を行っています。この新技術は、分子診断領域で現在主流となっているPCRやLAMP等の手法と比べ、速さとコストにおいて優位である可能性があります。

※RAIL System：DNA伸長反応において、反応の際に副産物としてリアルタイムで発生する発光を検出することにより、核酸を検出する新しい方法


■提携の内容
　本提携におきまして、アクセルマークはアセラのシードラウンドに参加し、アセラに資本参画いたします。併せて業務提携を行い、現在実用化に向けてテストを行っている、RAIL Systemを用いた分子診断キット「Ascella Real Time System」の日本での事業化権を取得いたします。また本システムについては、その診断理論について既に提携先のアクセリードにて調査を行っており、将来性の高い技術として評価されています。今後、アクセルマークとアクセリードは医療診断の新技術の普及促進を通じて、人々の健康寿命の向上に寄与することを目指して参ります。

■Ascella Real Time Systemについて

　本システムでは、被験者の唾液を採取し、アセラ社開発のハンドヘルドテスト機器に差し込むことで最大16の項目を３分以内に一定温度で反応を検出することが可能です。したがって、従来のPCR検査で必要な蛍光検出及び温度制御のためのPCR装置が不要となります。検査結果はスマートフォンアプリでも確認することができ、専門的な医療機関以外の場所でも活用されることが期待されます。

　現在、アセラではアメリカ国立衛生研究所からの助成金を受け、本システムの開発を進めており、米食品医薬品局(FDA)による緊急使用許可(Emergency Use Authorization：以下EUA)の取得を目指しています。

　今回アクセルマークが参画したシードラウンドにて調達した資金をEUA取得に必要な臨床サンプル測定に使用する予定であり、2022年のEUA取得を目標としています。Ascella Real Time Systemは一つのサンプルから同時に最大で16の検査を行えることから、現在はCOVID-19の変異株の同時検出を主目的としておりますが、2022年以降にはインフルエンザやRSウイルス感染症などの他の感染症に対する検査にテストを行う予定です。
